With over 15 years dedicated to law, Torres brings a wealth of knowledge to her industry, and, in particular to her area of specialization, family law. “I wanted to make sure that people are treated fairly and that they had access to justice,” Torres said when asked why she decided to pursue a career in law.

Torres’ commitment to the legal industry and to helping families goes far beyond her practice of the law. An adjunct professor at the Western State University College of Law, she has spoken to many bar organizations on multiple topics in her field, ranging from financial aspects of a divorce, child custody, domestic violence, and where family law and criminal law intersect.

As a thought leader in her field, Torres keeps her finger on the pulse of prevailing trends in family law. Commenting on what is currently capturing her attention, she noted:

"Right now, I'm focused on evidentiary issues in family law. There was a case that came down at the end of 2016 called Sanchez. It was a criminal case in Orange County but it is applicable to family law regarding the use of expert testimony. Even though this case was decided at the end of 2016 in a criminal matter, it has had several ramifications for the family law courts where evidence that was previously admissible has suddenly become inadmissible. With respect to certain issues, many judicial officers disagree as to what evidence comes in and stays out. This is why it is important to know each judicial officer’s philosophy."

Outside of her private practice, she is very involved with the Orange County Hispanic Bar Association where she is the organization’s president-elect. She is also a board member for the Orange County Bar Association, the Celtic Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Foundation, and additional bar organization
