Families are changing. Many families are using surrogates to have children. Other families are choosing just to live under the terms of cohabitation contracts.

Tristan teGroen, Attorney at Law

With over 20 years dedicated to law, teGroen brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and, in particular, to his area of specialization, family law. When asked why he decided to pursue a career in law, teGroen said:

"I was in my last year of high school, and I had no idea what I wanted to be. One day, my mom sent me for vocational aptitude testing, and it came back that I should either be a chef or a lawyer. I chose law."

Since being admitted to the State Bar of California in 1996, teGroen has represented clients in more than 1,200 cases. Whether working in the courtroom or in mediation, he approaches each case with care and compassion, always striving to help his clients and their families find closures for their complex legal disputes.

As a thought-leader in his field, teGroen has been recognized by organizations such as Martindale-Hubbell®, Avvo, and the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys™. This prominence gives teGroen a unique vantage point from which to keep a close watch of prevailing trends in family law. In particular, he notes:

"Families are changing. Many families are using surrogates to have children. Other families are choosing just to live under the terms of cohabitation contracts. Divorce is not exactly a happy time for the people involved—so to change the tempo, I enjoy doing adoptions, surrogacy cases, prenuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements as well as the traditional areas of family law. I also mediate cases, which is a satisfying way of resolving disputes."
