The Expert Network celebrates its newest member, Jon McCardle
Lafayette, IN, September 6, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Jon McCardle, President Summit Financial Group, has joined The Expert Network. With fifteen years of experience, Mr. McCardle covers a wide range of financial services ranging from debt management and cash flow planning to business planning, start-up consulting, investments, and retirement planning. He currently focuses on providing comprehensive plans to clients in the academic, agriculture and entrepreneurial sectors, as well as to individual clients and their families.
For Mr. McCardle, his progression into the financial industry was a natural one. As he tells it, a deep-rooted need to help people coupled with his unyielding ambition and sense of civic duty compelled him to pursue a career in wealth management:
"I am what they call a hybrid; a portion of my practice is fee-based, and a portion is commission-based. But I am also a hybrid in a different way: part of my day is spent in a financial advisory role while the other part of my day is spent as an institutional money manager. I don't outsource most of the investments we do, but rather I manage the lion's share of them in-house. We do that to ensure a high quality of service at a lower cost for our clients."
Jon McCardle, President, Summit Financial Group of Indiana
"I decided to get into wealth management because I couldn’t trust the system to take care of my clients’ finances. So I started managing money and investments because ultimately I wanted to make sure that my clients’ best interests were looked after without a conflict of interests and in a fiduciary manner."
Since the onset of his career in wealth management, Mr. McCardle has helped numerous individuals and corporations alike create unique, comprehensive plans to manage their financial futures. In contrast with the traditional approach to building portfolios, he seeks to offer personally crafted investment strategies designed to meet the diverse needs of his eclectic clientele. Whether working with clients with a net worth upwards of five million dollars or below five hundred thousand dollars, Mr. McCardle treats each case with equal parts sensitivity and diligence with the aim of creating custom-tailored financial plans that reflect each client’s individual tolerance for risk, liquidity needs and overall investment goals.
Today McCardle is affiliated with several large companies, including Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services, Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade, and TIAA-CREF, though he prefers the intimate setting of Summit Financial Group of Indiana. After managing Summit for six years he made the decision to purchase the firm from his partner. In the ten years since the firm has grown over seven-hundred percent.
With such resourcefulness and foresight, Mr. McCardle is often called upon to give lectures to professional organizations, community groups, corporations, and non-profits on a wide range of topics within financial planning and investment management. This prominence in the field allows McCardle to keep his finger on the pulse of the industry and leverage this awareness for the benefit of his clients. In particular, he has shifted the nature of his practice to meet the rapidly changing standards of wealth management. He noted:
"There has been a big shift in the industry as a whole, going from a suitability standard to a fiduciary standard, and so I have been running our practice on a fiduciary standard since 2006. I am what they call a hybrid; a portion of my practice is fee-based, and a portion is commission-based. But I am also a hybrid in a different way: part of my day is spent in a financial advisory role while the other part of my day is spent as an institutional money manager. I don’t outsource most of the investments we do, but rather I manage the lion's share of them in-house. We do that to ensure a high quality of service at a lower cost for our clients."
After over a decade dedicated to wealth management, Mr. McCardle envisions a bright future for his firm and his clients as he aims to continue serving his community in all of their financial planning needs. With the goal of broadening his scope and expanding Summit Financial Group of Indiana, Mr. McCardle is currently looking to hire additional staff and Advisers.
