With over 40 years dedicated to law, Nicoletti brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and, in particular, to his area of specialization, insurance defense. When asked why he decided to pursue a career in this field, Nicoletti said:

"For me, going into insurance law was happenstance. The Dean of Fordham Law recommended that I contact what would become the first firm I practiced with. There was an insurance attorney there by the name of John Walsh, who was seventy-three years old at the time, that was looking for first-year attorneys, and he hired me. After practicing with him, I started to really enjoy working in the field, and I haven’t looked back since."

Now the managing partner of the law firm Nicoletti Hornig & Sweeney, Nicoletti represents the interests of major international and domestic underwriters in federal and state courts throughout the United States. Known for his broad range of industry knowledge, he has been named to the U.S. Legal 500 in shipping insurance litigation and been recognized by Super Lawyers® New York metro addition, among many other honors.

Nicoletti Hornig & Sweeney’s reputation and expertise have been acknowledged by numerous publications including Chambers Global, Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America, Fortune, and the Legal 500: United States, in addition to many other accolades. With over 20 attorneys practicing across offices in New York, New Jersey, Georgia, and Illinois, the firm has also been rated by Forbes and Martindale-Hubbell®.

Practicing out of the firm's New York office, Nicoletti advises clients on a full range of insurance and reinsurance matters with a focus on marine, inland marine, commercial property and casualty, and energy insurance. Additionally, he counsels clients following pollution incidents on how to respond in compliance with federal and state law, on coordinating with governmental agencies responding to the incident, and on how to manage third-party claims arising out of the incident.

Nicoletti also regularly represents a variety of interests in the shipping and transportation industries in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration, throughout the United States. These cases are mainly in connection with lawsuits arising out of maritime casualties, pollution incidents, cargo damage, charter party disputes, maritime liens, salvage, personal injury, and commercial disputes.
