US News & World Report awarded Dr. Wang “Best Doctor” in 2011 and he received the Irwin H. Krakoff Award for Excellence in Clinical Research from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2014. He was also named a "Top Doctor" by Castle Connolly in 2011, "America's Top Oncologist" by Consumers' Research Council of America in 2007 and 2010, and received the Recognition Award for Outstanding Service as Chief Resident in Medicine during his residency at Norwalk Hospital.
With 14 years dedicated to medicine, Dr. Wang brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and in particular, to his area of expertise, the treatment of lymphoma. When asked why he decided to pursue this specialization in medicine, Dr. Wang said:
"When I was a fellow at MD Anderson, I rotated through different disease categories. I fell in love with lymphoma because I think lymphoma will be cured before other cancers will be. For me, it’s a god given job."
After completing his medical training, Dr. Wang remained at MD Anderson to continue his research on lymphoma. In addition to his primary role as a professor with the Department of Lymphoma and Myeloma, he teaches in the Department of Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. Dr. Wang is currently the director of the Mantle Cell Lymphoma Program of Excellence and the co-director of Clinical Investigation and Translational Research in the Division of Cancer Medicine.
As a thought-leader in his field, Dr. Wang’s innovative research has been extensively published in over 145 peer-reviewed medical journals. Dedicated to finding a cure, his work has deepened the medical community’s understanding of lymphoma, while helping to move the field toward and array of therapies for the disease. He noted:
