The Expert Network celebrates its newest member, Dr. Lisa Rogers, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Lisa Rogers, OB/GYN, Statesboro Women's Health Specialists, has joined The Expert Network©, an invitation-only service for distinguished professionals. Dr. Rogers has been chosen as a Distinguished Doctor™ based on peer reviews and ratings, numerous recognitions, and accomplishments achieved throughout her career.

Dr. Rogers outshines others in her field due to her extensive educational background, recognitions, and career longevity. An Arizona native, Dr. Rogers attended the University of Missouri as an undergraduate and earned her bachelor’s of science in 1990. She went on to study medicine at St. Louis University School of Medicine, and after graduating in 1994, she continued on to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, where she completed both her internship and residency. During her time in medical school, Dr. Rogers earned the Women Liaison Scholarship in 1992 and served as the first female student member of the Admissions Board. She was active in a number of several student groups and devoted a portion of her time to volunteering for St. Louis University Hospital, the Red Cross, and the AIDS center. During her residency, she co-authored a project that helped improve her department’s diagnosis of ectopic pregnancies and she served as Chief Resident from 1997 to 1998.

I was part of getting the robotics program initiated at our hospital, and I appreciate being able to perform surgeries that are less invasive and offer women an easier recovery and safer options. I also have come to appreciate menopause as it affects women; the fact that we change as we transition to different parts of our lives, and how my job changes as my patients (and I) go through those physical changes.

Lisa Rogers, M.D., FACOG, OB/GYN, Statesboro Women's Health Specialists

With 25 years dedicated to medicine, Dr. Rogers brings a wealth of knowledge to her industry and, in particular, to her area of expertise, obstetrics and gynecology. When asked why she decided to pursue a career in this specialty, Dr. Rogers said:

"I like to care for people, I like science and biology, and as far as women's health, it was just a natural field for me to go into. When I started, there were very few women in women's health. I spent the first three years of my residency as the only female, so I felt like I could relate to my patients on a different level and offer them a unique perspective."

Dr. Rogers joined Statesboro Women’s Health Specialists in 1998 and has since developed a reputation as one of the area’s most compassionate and skillful obstetrician-gynecologists. Utilizing the full breadth of her experience, she is able to treat teenagers and menopausal women alike, who have needs spanning from routine pelvic exams and questions about birth control to issues surrounding childbirth and infertility. Additionally, she treats women with bladder weakness and is one of the exclusive InterStim® Therapy specialists in the area. Additionally, Dr. Rogers is the owner of one of the few single specialty Gynecological Surgery Centers in the United States.

As a thought-leader in her specialty, Dr. Rogers has been able to watch the field of women’s health evolve from her unique vantage point, both as a woman and as a women’s health provider. She has a special appreciation and understanding for how the bodies and lives of women change over time, and takes pride in being able to treat women not only as they go through changes in health status, but more broadly, as they change with the passage of time. She comments on changes in her field and changes in her patients’ lives:

"I was part of getting the robotics program initiated at our hospital, and I appreciate being able to perform surgeries that are less invasive and offer women an easier recovery and safer options. I also have come to appreciate menopause as it affects women; the fact that we change as we transition to different parts of our lives, and how my job changes as my patients (and I) go through those physical changes."

Dr. Rogers is a fellow of the American College of OB/GYN (ACOG) and a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS), the American Academy of Pain Management (AAPM), the American Medical Association, and numerous other medical organizations and associations. Among many other awards and honors, she has received the Most Compassionate Doctor Award and Patient Physician Choice Award from Vitals, Business Leader of the Year, and has been recognized as ones of Memorial Health Partners' Distinguished Quality Physicians on six separate occasions.
