With nearly 40 years dedicated to medicine, Dr. Fleischer brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and in particular, to his area of expertise, radiology. When asked why he decided upon this particular specialization, Dr. Fleischer said:
"I started doing ultrasounds as a medical student and really enjoyed it. So for me it was a natural progression to go into imaging. I love Radiology because it allows you to understand many different disease processes. Essentially in Radiology you act as a doctor's consultant. We have a very important role in diagnosing and managing many different diseases."
Dr. Fleischer currently serves as the Medical Director of Ultrasound in the Department of Radiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he specializes in sonographic imaging, especially that relate to gynecological diseases and cancer. He also holds two academic positions at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine as a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, and holds the Cornelius Vanderbilt Chair.
As a thought-leader in his field, Dr. Fleischer has published over 155 papers and 22 books, including what is one of the leading books in OB/GYN ultrasound imaging, Sonography in OB/GYN: Principles and Practice, 7th Edition. Currently, his research focuses on the efficacy of various types of ultrasound diagnosing techniques, as well as enhancing the effects of treatment of cancer patients using sonographic theranostics. He noted:

Dr. Fleischer is a fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine where he previously served on the Board of Governors, a member and Fellow of the American College of Radiology, and of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound, and a member and former President of the Society for the Advancement of Women’s Imaging. He has received numerous awards and recognitions over the course of his career, including the Distinguished Alumnus Award from The Medical College of Georgia in 2007, the Frank H. Boehm Award for Contribution to Continuing Medical Education by Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2005, the CANDLE Award from the Vanderbilt School of Medicine in 2002 for medical student education, and a “Lifetime Service Award” from the American Board of Radiology in 2015.
