Denise Khoury Has Been Recognized Among the Top in Her Industry by the Expert Network

The Expert Network celebrates its newest member, Attorney Denise Khoury

Denise Khoury, Founder, Guajardo Khoury Family Law, has joined The Expert Network, an invitation-only service for distinguished professionals. Ms. Khoury has been chosen as a Distinguished Lawyer based on peer reviews and ratings, dozens of recognitions, and accomplishments achieved throughout her career.

Ms. Khoury outshines others in her field due to her extensive educational background, numerous awards and recognitions, and superlative client service. She earned her Juris Doctorate from South Texas Law College and has since been named a Top Rated Family Law Attorney in Texas by Super Lawyers three times, has won the American Institue of Family Law Attorney's Client Satisfaction Award twice, and has also been named to Houstonia Top Lawyers.

With the recent Supreme Court Case officially permitting marriage of same-sex couples comes a new set of challenges in family law. There is an entirely new subset of custody and asset division regarding children born via artificial insemination. When only one parent (or neither parent) is technically a biological parent, it can be difficult to secure shared custody or receive child support payments under the ever-changing case law. It is a growing sector in the field of family law, so I am very focused on how it develops and how I can help my clients in matters such as this.

With more than 12 years of experience dedicated to law, Ms. Khoury brings a wealth of knowledge to her industry, and, in particular, to her area of specialization, family law, including divorce, collaborative law, adoptions, LGBT issues, and conservatorship issues. When asked why she decided to set her sights on family law, she noted a desire to demystify a complicated and often misunderstood area of the law. As she tells it:

"No one really explains the process or the big picture to clients going through a divorce or custody case. I found that shocking and decided to orient my practice toward making each client a key part and partner in their case. For me, informed clients are the best clients."

As a thought-leader in her field, Ms. Khoury works diligently to stay at the forefront of family law practices and trends. In particular, she is keeping a keen eye on cases involving LGBT families working through divorce proceedings and custody arrangements. Regarding this matter she says:

"With the recent Supreme Court Case officially permitting marriage of same-sex couples comes a new set of challenges in family law. First, we are working to establish collaborative law practices (or private divorce proceedings that avoid a trial) for same-sex couples wishing to separate without the uncertain outcome of litigation or a trial. And there is an entirely new subset of custody and asset division regarding children born via artificial insemination. When only one parent (or neither parent) is technically a biological parent, it can be difficult to secure shared custody or receive child support payments under the ever-changing case law. It is a growing sector in the field of family law, so I am very focused on how it develops and how I can help my clients in matters such as this."
