With 30 years dedicated to law, Ridings brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and, in particular, to his area of specialization, criminal defense with an emphasis on representing police officers. A former police officer with Murfreesboro and Metro Nashville Police Departments for 10 years, Ridings attributes his decision to pursue a career in this area of the law to his background in law enforcement, Ridings said:

"In 1996, during an Armed Robbery, I was involved in a serious shootout as a Metro Police Officer. I was married with two of my five children at the time. Believe it or not, it wasn’t until that very night that I realized just how important I was to my family, and I decided it was time for a change in my career. I had already begun attending law school at night, but that event accelerated my desire to finish law school, and become an attorney. It was important that I continue to be there for my boys, so I knew I needed to do something different. With my background in law enforcement over the previous decade, a career as an attorney seemed like the perfect fit.”

The founder of Ridings Law Group, PC and General Counsel for the Tennessee Highway Patrol Retired Officers Association, Ridings’ efforts have been widely recognized in the form of prestigious accolades, including having been listed among the Ten Best in Client Satisfaction by the American Institute of Legal Counsel™.

As a thought-leader in his field, Ridings likes to keep his clients up-to-date on prevailing trends within criminal defense through his free educational blog. He notes the importance of understanding legal rights:

"In this day and age, it is crucial for everyone to know their rights, and be able to respectfully invoke them...I am adamant that my clients know exactly what to do if they are ever stopped by police in the future. I spend a great deal of time teaching clients how to interact with, and talk to the police. But more importantly I teach them when, how, and why they should NOT talk to the police."

Outside of his thriving practice, Ridings is married to his wife Lynda. Together they are proud parents of five grown sons and are active in their local Church, Cornerstone Nashville, where they serve as Elders and Ridings is on the board of directors.
